Built in 1902 and designated as a cultural heritage site by the Singkawang City Government in 1999, it is named the Traditional Area of the Tjhia Family House. Strategically located in the Hongkong Market area, it is easily accessible and not far from the oldest temple in Singkawang, the Tri Dharma Bumi Raya Temple.
